IT Function Commentary and Moves

Welcome to the 2014 issue of IOPener, in which we cover interesting moves within the technology function in many organisations around Europe. We are particularly pleased to include a commentary on the Retail Sector by Paul Coby, CIO of the UK-based multichannel department store John Lewis, which the sister company to Waitrose, the top-end UK supermarket chain. The UK is the largest retail market in Europe and accounts for 34% of all online retail sales in those markets. In the first six months of 2014 online sales at John Lewis had grown by over 25% to £552m (€707m).
